All Cruise-In Week, Mexican Fiesta, and Flamingo Regatta race proceeds are donated to support the education and well-being of Barra's children.
Our all-volunteer, grass-roots group of local leaders, expat residents, winter visitors, and members of the boating communities comes together yearly to organize and manage the fund-raising events. Each year, the designated beneficiary schools and organizations are asked to submit a list of projects or purchases they would like funded for the upcoming fundraiser. Beneficiaries are selected based on demonstrated need.
Transparency and oversight are important to all. After selecting the beneficiaries, we hold the events and publish the donation amounts via "big checks" with photos on local FaceBook forums. In the case of the schools, the director will post the checks to show the parents, teachers and students how much money will be spent on the school that year. To complete the oversight, the directors must submit receipts to our group showing how their pesos were actually spent.

2026 Beneficiaries include the six schools PLUS Grupo Ecobana. Ecobana is involved with recycling, sea turtle protection, ecological education, and the Youth Squadron to train young people in community service and to contribute in case of emergency or disaster.
